Finally Forever

February 16, 2009

I was re-listening to Chris Cornell’s album “Carry On” when I stumbled on the song “Finally Forever”. For those unfamiliar with Cornell, he used to be with the bands Audioslave and Soundgarden (yup, he’s a hard core ROCKER). Carry On was his second solo album which also included the theme song from Casino Royale (“You Know My Name”).

I used to ignore “Finally Forever” whenever I skimmed through this album but for some reason, I decided to play out the entire song for the first time. It must have been fate. My attention was caught by these lyrics:

Anytime you’re lost
Anywhere you’re found
Anytime you want
I will be around
Anywhere you seek
Anywhere you stand
Anytime you fall
Anywhere you limp
Even if you break
Anytime I can I will be there for you
I know that you’ll understand
You’ll understand

Now I never would have imagined this
So I thank my lucky stars
As I see you in your wedding dress
Never would have guessed you’d fill my open arms
And it took some patience to catch your eye
Patience to win your heart

Now it feels like I don’t have to worry at all
Yeah it feels like I don’t have to worry at all
Yeah it feels like I don’t have to worry at all
It’s finally forever
Finally forever

I think I found the song. To be clear, I haven’t decided where we can use this yet but this will definitely be in our playlist. Granted it’s not your typical love song but I just love it.

  1. can i just say that i teared up by just reading the lyrics?! really thanks for sharing. i adore Chris Cornell’s voice.

we’re using alternative songs for our reception. our first dance will be to “Brighter than Sunshine” and our entrance will be to “Yellow”. the entrance song may change though, we never know if Death Cab for Cutie comes up with a less-tragic song within the year.

  2. @fozzy: Great song choices! 🙂 Right now we’re just dragging songs to our wedding playlist so nothing’s really definite. We don’t really like the usual sentimental songs played in weddings and we refer songs that reflect our personality as a couple. If ever we choose a “slow” song, we’d probably go for an old kundiman with a modern arrangement. 🙂

Ang saya ng wedding preps no? It’s just love, love, love all around! 🙂
